Sports Will Die(Flip Blog)

Marketing is life. Everything that we do requires us to use marketing skills. Whether you own a business, work for a business, still a student or between theses stages of life, you cannot avoid using marketing. Marketing is the way that you dress, the way that you speak, your handshake, the car you drive, and even in giving your opinion about a certain topic is using marketing. It is hard to think about, but easy to realize that you use marketing every day because you are a product and service to the world.  I chose to study Sport Marketing as a potential career path and I firmly believe that sports would start to become obsolete if marketing did not exist. The number one reason that professional athletes get paid the way that they do is because of the love of their fans. Fans bring things like ticket sales and endorsements to the world of sport. The success of Michael Jordan, outside of basketball, is a great example of the product of sport marketing. Marketing is the reason that children that are still alive know about him today. For example, Shaquille O’Neil also has a shoe brand with a little man dunking on it, yet his shoe doesn’t nearly get as much coverage as Jordan’s shoes because whoever
markets for Jordan is smart in making private deals and compromises with the partners that he shares with.  His shoe has been noted as legendary, but no one would know about it if not for marketing. It is the job of a marketing manager to make sure that people are familiar with and attracted to the goods and or services that you are offering to the people. Sports marketing, though by unofficial names, has been around for years and generations, but the now the industry is booming. There are so many different ways to be involved in sport marketing; however the good thing is that it is an industry that continuously created jobs and has something for everybody.
